Ben Affleck
A two-time Academy Award winner, Ben has established himself as one of cinema’s great American filmmakers, telling timeless stories with modern cultural relevance and redefining traditional genres through an evolved classical Hollywood style.
Ben’s first Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay was Good Will Hunting before stepping behind the camera as a writer-director with the hard-hitting, emotional crime drama Gone Baby Gone, starring Academy Award winners Casey Affleck and Morgan Freeman.
Balancing gritty realism, sweeping narratives and dimensionally-chiseled characters, Ben’s Boston-set crime thriller The Town, starring Academy Award nominated Jeremy Renner and Academy Award winner Chris Cooper, earned Ben both critical acclaim and a WGA Award nomination.
Ben’s historical political-thriller Argo, dramatizing the CIA’s covert rescue mission during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, would win Ben his second Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as the prestigious BAFTA Award for his work as director.
After producing and co-writing Rashomon-style historical thriller, The Last Duel, Ben directed Air, in which he produced and starred alongside Matt Damon, dramatizing Nike’s early pursuit of the brand’s first celebrity endorsement, forever changing the shoe company, and the future of sports marketing.
Ben is more than just an artist and director, he’s also an entrepreneur. With backing from RedBird Capital, Ben co-founded Artists Equity. The creative-lead studio has multiple feature film projects in the pipeline including The Instigators, directed by Doug Liman and starring Matt Damon and the forthcoming Animals, with Ben directing.
