As an Emmy Award winning editor on The Office, Claire’s intuitive understanding of comedy and timing naturally carried her from the cutting room into the director's chair. Claire cultivated a definitive point of view as a director, honing a precision in shooting the essential elements to focus on collaborating with her cast in order to get the very best – and the most funny – material on screen.
Claire has directed some of the most celebrated and critically-acclaimed comedy series of the last decade including Abbott Elementary, Miracle Workers, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, The Mindy Project, Modern Family, Fresh Off the Boat, The Last Man on Earth, Black-ish, Selfie, Suburgatory, Speechless, GLOW, Social Distance, Making History and Never Have I Ever.
Claire’s directing work includes Palm Royale, starring Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, and Laura Dern, Loot starring Maya Rudolph, and Acapulco, all for AppleTV+. Unstable, starring Rob Lowe, for Netflix.
As a feature film director she tells aspirational stories, such as her debut feature Set It Up and The People We Hate at the Wedding, starring Kristen Bell, Academy Award winner Allison Janney and Tony Award winner Ben Platt. Claire feels a keen responsibility to show not just the world at its funniest, but at its very best, by inclusively representing everyone in it. Claire's next feature, Bringing Up Bebe, adapts Pamela Drunckerman's bestselling novel, about her family’s relocation from New York to Paris and the challenges of assimilation as she navigates the many cultural nuances.
Claire’s unique skill set – from knowing what works and what doesn’t, to recognizing and finding the perfect rhythm of performance – can be seen across her prolific work in television, features, and her commercials, like her campaign for Jack Daniels/NBA partnership.
