Each of Nancy’s films have her signature all over them and each features a strong female character(s) who exemplify the female experience. But everyone loves a Nancy Meyers film. Not just women. Case in point: She wrote and directed the blockbuster romantic comedy What Women Want. Then, she wrote, directed and produced Something’s Gotta Give, starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton, and Frances McDormand. Both Nicholson and Keaton received Golden Globe nominations and Keaton won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy, and Nancy earned the ShoWest Director of the Year Award. By the way, she’s the first woman ever to receive this prestigious honor. Next came The Holiday (hello Airbnb), and then It’s Complicated, starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, which earned three Golden Globe nominations. In 2015 Meyers wrote, directed and produced The Intern, starring Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway. But it all began with Private Benjamin, starring Goldie Hawn, which earned Meyers the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Written Directly for the Screen, and it earned three Academy Award nominations. Now, more than ever, the world needs Nancy’s heart and soul; her sense of humor, style and her strong sense of self.
